H.A.W.A participated in the International Conference of Contemporary Halal & Fatwa 2024 with the paper "Exploring the Ethics and Feasibility of In Ovo
Gender Testing for Egg Production within the context of Islam". The paper discusses the use of gender testing of chicks before they are hatched to stop unnecessary culling of male chicks and if this is allowed within the boundaries of Islam despite Eggs being a Halal product to consumer as slaughter is not a consideration. The subject and discussion was well recieved but highlighted the need for further discussion from Islamic scholars.
